Buy, Sell and Swap Your Baby Toys, Clothes and Furniture

Every week at The Funky Stork, we provide you with fresh content to keep you in-the-know about your life as an expectant father, new dad or single parent.

This week we are featuring our new marketplace for new parents to swap, buy and sell baby stuff with other parents.

We all know that babies and kids need a lot of clothes, toys and furniture, and that none of these things come cheap.  The worst part is that our kids outgrow everything really fast - toys become boring after two weeks, clothes become too small in 6 months, and furniture, such as strollers and cribs, becomes obsolete within a year or two.

As a parent, you have only a few options:  buy new and throw out, or buy used and sell used.  The Funky Stork Marketplace is a perfect forum to exchange your kid stuff with other parents.  Sign in and start sellin
g or buying.  It's good for your pocketbook and for the environment.

Enjoy!

You know that spending time with your child is important, but you also know that the work week can run you down.  When the weekend comes, all you want to do is sleep in, go to the gym, read and watch TV.  Although you probably shouldn't verbalize it, the last thing you feel like doing is running after a toddler all weekend.  That said, there are ways to make your "quality time" enjoyable for everyone.  The trick is to find something fun that is age-appropriate for your toddlers to do.  After all, a happy toddler means a happy father.

Here is our list of top 10 weekend activities for kids.

what to pack in your hospital bag

Being prepared is essential when it comes to labor and delivery. Unless your partner is having a scheduled caesarean birth, the actual day your little tot arrives will be a complete surprise. While you may know your babe's expected due date, you should know that 95% of babies are actually born before or after this date. So the point is this: Be flexible and be prepared. There are three things you and your partner really should do to prepare for the big day:

  1. Take a comprehensive prenatal class that, among other things, will educate you in labor and delivery
  2. Prepare a birthing plan
  3. Pack a bag for the hospital 2-3 weeks BEFORE your baby's expected due date.
To help you organize your thoughts, make sure to refer to our  WHAT TO PACK FOR THE HOSPITAL CHECKLIST.

pregnancy weight gain - blimping out

pregnancy diet and pregnancy weight gainThe American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends that women gain somewhere between 25 and 35 pounds during pregnancy. Of course, this poundage depends on the woman's starting weight. If she is overweight, then she should gain less and if she is underweight, then she should gain more.

Easy enough. Now, let's assume that your gal starts her pregnancy at a healthy and sexy weight. What the heck will she look like with thirty more pounds? Don't worry! It gets evenly distributed throughout her body and doesn't all go to her ass. Here's a general breakdown of where the weight goes:
